Sham Shui Po (Tonkin Street) Bus Terminus was located near the junction of Sham Mong Road and Tonkin Street West. The name, given by Kowloon Motor Bus ("KMB"), was a bit misleading that the Bus Terminus was actually closer to Tonkin Street West instead of Tonkin Street, and it should be better described as located in Cheung Sha Wan rather than Sham Shui Po.
On 7 March 1999, the Bus Terminus replaced the old Sham Shui Po Ferry Bus Terminus where Fu Cheong Estate was later built. After 17 years and 7 months, the Bus Terminus was again closed for development of public housing. Starting from 6 October 2016, the affected bus routes, i.e. 12A, 18, 36A, 212 and 296C of KMB, as well as cross harbour routes 118, 118P and N118, are terminated along Sham Mong Road adjacent to the site of the Bus Terminus. This temporary terminus is named Cheung Sha Wan (Sham Mong Road). A permanent indoor bus terminus at the original site underneath the residential blocks of the public housing development is being built. The construction is to be completed in mid-2021.
The photo below was taken one week before the opening of the Bus Terminus, when the construction was nearly finished.
