In 1999, New World First Bus ("NWFB") requested Dennis Specialist Vehicles to design a special version of Trident bus for Route 15. The route runs through the bottom of the Mount Kellett Road Bridge which the statutory headroom clearence is 4 metres. Dennis then designed the shortest version of 3-axle Trident with only 10.3-metre long, and the body is supplied by Duple Metsec with 4.17-metre tall.
NWFB allocated 3300-series as the fleet number for the 40 buses (3301-3340). For a period of time, a suffix "L" was used to indicate that they are low-height buses. Further 20 low height, EURO III engine powered Dennis Tridents (3341-3360) were acquired by NWFB during 2002.
NWFB introduced low-height Alexander Dennis Enviro400 (3800-series) buses in 2016, and these new buses are expected to replace the 3300-series Tridents for their retirement.
